Who am I?

Sam on a Boat

I do not believe in chance, so if you have wandered upon my page, then it was for a reason. Maybe you are looking for something specific, or perhaps you are just browsing the web. Whatever the reason, I welcome you.

My Introduction

Let me introduce myself. My name is Samuel Brinkerhoff; I went to Japan to study and decided that I wanted to live and teach there. The culture was so different from any other society I had experienced. I had trouble making friends and settling in, so I moved to Vietnam. The link for why I had difficulty will come soon, so please check back. Also, in Japan, I had to work from 8 to 4 every single day. I hated the hours.

I moved to Vietnam to teach and found that I enjoyed the people. They were what I thought the Japanese people would be like. I also liked the idea of only going to work when I have to teach and never sitting around, like in Japan and America. The only thing I hated about being a teacher was preparing a lesson plan, so I decided to try my luck at writing blogs.

Even though I am still teaching, I want to break free from teaching completely. I want to become a traveler, never looking back. I am a single traveler and a nomad, not having a place to call home, although I am still looking.

Why am I writing?

I decided to pick up the pen and capture every moment of my life, both bad and good and share it with you. I hope in doing this; you can have an excellent chance to choose a good trip or plan for the future. I want you to experience the positive things and feelings of what I experienced. I want you to feel what I felt. Even if you have never traveled in your life, there are still things for you and information to gather. Maybe even the inspiration to visit another country as well.

I am a man that lives on the edge; I follow my feelings. I do research but never make a plan. Whenever I wake up, whatever I want to do, I do and I document what I see and feel.

Why am I a solo-traveler?

I used to hate traveling alone. I would always wait for people around me to do things or would wait on someone to invite me to events. I missed many opportunities that were in my reach. So I began this blog to help me travel, kind of like an encouragement to stand up and do things.

But in reality, when someone reads my post, it is like I am taking you with me, so I am not really alone.

Before you leave this page I want you to know what this blog is not:

  1. It is not a lie; everything I have written is correct and from my own experience.
  2. I am not doing this to earn money, although it will help me to travel.
  3. I will not promote something I have never used or done before. Anything that I encourage you to get is straight from something I have experienced or done. Yes, I might earn money from some of the things that I promote.

My main goal of the blog:

My main goal is to inspire you to travel; I want you to have just as much fun traveling as I have. But not only fun but have the best time you can have, with the information that I provided. If you do, then my job is complete.
